What We Do
Rewater transforms treated wastewater into a valuable resource. By purchasing effluent from the Water Authority Cayman (WAC) Wastewater Treatment Plant, we treat this water to make it suitable for irrigation and other non-potable needs. Our service is primarily targeted at large commercial customers along the Seven Mile Beach corridor, helping them reduce costs and contribute to the island's sustainability efforts.
Uses For Recycled Water
- Irrigation for agriculture
- Irrigation for landscaping such as parks, rights-of-ways, and golf courses
- Process water for power plants, concrete mixing and other construction processes
- Dust control or surface cleaning of roads, construction sites, and other trafficked areas
Basics of Water Reuse
Water reuse, also known as water recycling or water reclamation, involves recovering water from various sources, treating it, and repurposing it for essential uses such as agriculture, irrigation, potable water supply, groundwater replenishment, industrial processes, and environmental restoration. In a geographically limited environment with constrained natural water resources, water reclamation becomes critical, offering a sustainable alternative.
How It Works
- Effluent Collection: We begin by purchasing treated wastewater from the WAC Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Advanced Treatment: The water undergoes reverse osmosis desalination to lower its salt content, making it safe and effective for irrigation.
- Strategic Distribution: The treated water is distributed through a pipeline along the Seven Mile Beach corridor, ensuring easy access to our treated water.
- Customer Access: Large commercial entities, including hotels and condominiums, can connect to our Rewater line and start using non-potable water for their irrigation and other needs.
